Introduction

A Devi is often worshipped for money and fame, but does her existence sustain beyond her religious significance? Does she ever gain individuality?

Our Patriarchal Society

As a baby in the womb, sex discrimination is the norm. Despite the legal restrictions on revealing the gender, many still adhere to orthodox societal norms. A boy is welcomed as 'The Vansh' (Dynasty), set to carry forward the family name. In contrast, the birth of a girl often brings long faces in the household. Is it really her fault for being born a girl? Why should a toddler bear the brunt of society's biases?

From infancy to growing up, restrictions are deeply rooted in her existence.

Any unexpected incident or misfortune in the family is often attributed to her as a curse.

Going out at night is considered acceptable for men, but for women, it’s a different story. Why is one woman often another woman's worst enemy? The older generation, in the name of tradition, is quick to impose restrictions on young women’s opportunities.

Today, in the 21st Century, women have proven their potential, excelling in every field—from reaching the moon to running nations and becoming business tycoons. Yet, why does she still feel inferior and face societal disabilities? Cases of rape, dowry demands, and torture still persist, upheld by a patriarchal society.

Will there ever be a resurgence of Durga (Goddess) rising from the ashes of pain to claim her rightful superiority?

Conclusion

The article critically examines the cultural and societal norms that perpetuate gender discrimination and challenges us to envision a world where women are not just worshipped as goddesses but are also respected and valued as equals in every sphere of life.
